Instrument list on Title page
« on: December 20, 2019, 12:40:59 PM »
The list of instruments in orchestral scores often just lists "Strings" for the string section.

For a chamber work that has some winds plus string quartet do I say "String quartet", or do I list the individual instruments?

in some contexts you don't need to even have an instrument list.
if it's say two bassoons and string quartet, the title page which says "title title title for 2 bassoons and string quartet" is enough.

more than 4 instruments + your string quartet I might consider a musical instrument listing, particularly if any woodwinds will be playing auxiliary instruments (flute/piccolo, oboe/english horn, clarinet/bass clarinet, etc...).

give us a bit more information and it will be easier to make a determination from that.

Thank you, Michel.  I think you answered my question in your example.
