little notation details...
it's missing a time signature.
and in the 1st measure, it should be (2nd voice): 8th rest, 8th - 8th - 8th__tied to__quarter, not a dotted 1/4.

Sorry Allan. I tried to upload the .mp3 file several times and got errors. I just tried again and it worked. What on earth would we do without computers and the Internet. eh?

Michel: Sigh!  I don't know how I managed not to have a time signature at the beginning. Will fix notation. It got confusing with the layers and I spent a lot of time making sure that items didn't overlap--and then missed the obvious.

very interesting.
maybe a few suggestions for some changes?

measures 6-7, and 13-16, pizz instead of staccato arco? I'm particularly fond of jumping back and forth between the two.

measures 18-25: contrabass, maybe some octave leaps instead of just repeated notes? it doesn't have to be much to create more of an impression of movement. particularly that you are moving toward a section with prominent octave leaps.

I'm looking at mm65 until the end, and wondering if the celli and contrabassi might not add some rhythmic counterpoint... off-kilter accents? pizz "explosions"? something that might give a bit more movement to that section? bouncing bows on the cello, with harmonics as final notes? effects.. stuff that might add a tiny bit more colour. not just for effects' sake, but as a means of creating yet more interest in the density and texture.

I really like the clusterish pyramid motif. it's REALLY cool.

I won't have time tonight to listen in depth.
I like to be able to really settle in and give something my full attention.
just one tiny notation detail: measure 72, cello - skootch the G of the 2nd cello part over a TINY bit to the left, and also, repeat the Eb accidental in that same voice. Remember, when instruments share staves, accidentals must be repeated between different voices.

Really? I thought accidentals applied for the remainder of the measure no matter what the voice?

No, only in keyboard music.
The rule is when it's multiple instruments sharing a staff accidentals must be repeated.
In keyboard music, regardless of the number of voices, it is still only one performer.

So, two flutes on a staff, repeat accidentals when they apply to first one then the other.

Okay, I adjusted it. Still it seems odd to me to see the same note with a flat in front of it twice in one measure. But, just because it looks odd to me doesn't mean it's not correct.

I know it takes some getting sued to, but it DOES look much better.
and the skootched over note is great too. very nice engraving.

generally speaking, when notes cross each others ranges, the stems can get confusing. it's good practice to augment the space between them a tiny bit just to clarify which notehead has which stem attached to it.

I've just listened through the whole movement and WOW!, I really really like it.

there are still minor engraving things, like a few collisions with certain text expressions, and some staccato marks that aren't ideally placed.

and again, I REALLY like that pyramid effect in the string section.
some beautiful harmony here.

hehe, and I noticed a nice little "V - I" at one point in the celli and basses... lovely touch, and it doesn't actually SOUND like a perfect cadence.

both this and the 3rd part I'd really consider playing a tiny bit faster.

The usual thanks for your care and attention to detail. I think, when playing it back, that the first movement could also be a touch faster.

Ron, I like this movement even more than the first.

The motives are interesting and, even though you said these are to be short pieces, I could stand to have the material be expanded and developed.
