"May the Words of My Mouth" is an SATB with piano accompaniment setting, moderately easy. It comes from Psalm 19:14, a beautiful, elegant prayer. This piece is excellent for highlighting a choir's phrasing, dynamics, balance, control, and maintaining a steady tempo. The notes might be easy at first glance, but the style, phrasing, dynamics, and nuance make the piece challenging.

Totally enjoyed it ! I just finished reading a section in your book, " Start and say many with what is most familiar ", pg 85, that mentioned it so it was great to put a sound to your example.

Thanks Arthur for sharing both the piece on you tube and the book !!

I'll be Bach. You be Beethoven. You think you can Handel that ?

Your setting of the psalm is well-crafted and has a nice traditional sound. The harmonies in the piece are not particularly adventurous, but that makes things easier for inexperienced choruses, I imagine.

Thanks for posting it.

Lovely melody, Art. The soar of the soprano voice is particularly nice.

Pretty smooth modulations, too.

Thanks, Jay and Jer. That's right, Jay--I wrote this piece for less-experienced singers, so I kept the harmonies traditional.

Jer: I tried to make "pleasing in thy sight" pleasing harmonically and melodically.

How did I guess that ...?

You succeeded.

Nice piece. Good melody, good harmonies. Not my cup of tea, but well done.
