A Child's Walk
« on: January 13, 2021, 10:26:08 AM »
Well, the work is 99% finished ... I have another mentoring session next Tuesday to continue a measure by measure review.  Just made some tweaks ... hopefully by Wednesday next week I can put this baby to bed.

I have been promised a run through with the orchestra post covid 19.  Maybe something more too?  The virus has really upset the apple cart here.

The engraving is almost finished.  I don't believe there are any harmonic issues or bad notes.

Once again this is a programmatic work.  You will hear the child's theme throughout as well as her adventures.

Let your imagination walk along with her.

All feedback most welcome.

Beautiful orchestral score, I enjoyed the various textures. There is indeed wonder in it, reminiscent of a child's walk. What software did you use to generate the sounds? They sound quite realistic

Francois,

I am pleased you enjoyed the orchestration and thematic material.

I used NotePerformer for the ensemble.

Overall, it's pretty good.  My only objection is that the Oboe tone is computer generated and not kind to my Oboist's ear.

Mark,

It's come a long way. Nice work.

The first part and the last part are really delightful!

The texture in the middle seems a bit dense.

Cheers,
Jer

That's a good observation about the mid-section.  I'll bring it up for discussion with my mentor.  A lighter texture might fit better with the other sections.

Thanks for the feedback.

Just an update ... I did thin out the texture in a few strategic places .... adjusted some dynamics that were wrong and expanded the ending with new material.

I am not posting again until next week.  That post will be the final version.
