Virtual Orchestra Performance
« on: November 14, 2020, 07:28:31 AM »
Hi all - our community orchestra Symphonic Pops of Long Island just completed a virtual orchestra video presentation.  It will be posted on November 17th at www.symphonicpopsli.org and Facebook.  It was a challenging first-time activity for me.  We had to record using a click-track.  I actually performed both Oboe parts since my colleague was ill.  For the first presentation with an orchestra with varying skill levels it is pretty good!

The video was professionally produced.  The "Pops" is presently considering doing another video for the Holidays - Leroy Anderson's "Christmas Festival".

As for myself, being motivated by this project, I upgraded my video software and memory as well as increasing storage capapcity and I am ready to do the same on my computer.  I'll begin with duets, trios, and woodwind quartets with friends.

Something to keep me busy during these dark and gloomy covid-19 winter days.

An interesting project.  Was there a virtual conductor to watch or only the click track to guide your playing?

Mark,

Just watched it. It was a lot of fun.

A very ambitious undertaking. Obviously, the piece was more successful in some places than in others.

I particularly enjoyed watching you and your twin, you, in different shirts.

Cheers,
Jer
