Greetings from a Canadian rookie !
« on: April 03, 2019, 07:26:01 AM »
Hi Everyone !

I thought I would post just to to say Hi ! My Name is Mark a.k.a. "Mr Mark", a family entertainer in Canada. I perform across Canada  for kids a families. Too Much Fun ! I have also been fortunate enough to compose and record music, mostly short pieces, mainly for dance.

I have been browsing the forum checking out many topics. I am excited to be a member.  I have listened to, and read along to, many pieces that people have shared and I have to say that I am impressed by the quality of the feedback received by those who are brave enough to share their work. Honest, but constructive, the feedback shows a level of care that makes me eager to " give it a go".

I will certainly "give it a go " and any advice you can give me regarding the best way to post recordings ( soundcloud ? Mp3? etc) or scores would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance !

Mark aka Mr Mark !

G'day Mr Mark and glad to have you aboard. Oddawa Valley resident here. (Smiths Falls, to be precise.)

Most people post an mp3 and pdf of the score. That's the easiest for those commentating.

Oddawa valley ? ! Cool ! These days I split my time between Trois-rivieres QC and Tulsa Oklahoma.

Because I write ( I use Notion not Finale ) mostly music I record, rather than for musicians to play, I hope the scores I provide are acceptable. Meaning, I often use metronome markings rather than italian for tempo and sometimes my scores are not laid out exactly as you would find in an orchestra.

That being said, I will do my best to " clean them up " and share!

Looking forward, a pleasure to meet you Ron!

I use metronome markings exclusively in my scores and never had any complaints. Trois-Rivières is close to one of our other members--well, same general region of Québec anyhow.

I did see that ! Near Joliette !

Great I wil go over my work and get on with the sharing! I will also try to look over some of the other pieces and make an attempt to share my own observations. Being a junior composer, I am not sure my observations will be of much help however, I am hoping through disussion we all can learn !

thanks Ron !

Hey Michel,

Thanks for the waves !

I have recently moved to Trois-Rivieres and must say I am mangling the french language ! The accent here is nothing like mon CD. That being said, I am having "beaucoup de fun" avec mes nouveaux amis du Quebec ! ( i cannot type in french either )

I look forward to "taking the plunge" and sharing my work and the feedback that goes along with it !
