Please help with large file upload testing
« on: September 06, 2018, 02:42:00 PM »
Hi All,

Reha (sandalwood) reported to me a couple of days ago that uploading an audio file (not sure of the exact size - some number of megabytes) was failing for him. He was able to upload a smaller file (probably some number of kbs). I was able to replicate this results - OK with smallish pdf; dies with 4.2 mb mp3 file.

There were some settings server side that needed to be adjusted (max upload and request timeout) which I thought would fix the problem, but no luck.

Talking and attempting to diagnose with GoDaddy again today and they aren't seeing any server side problems or misconfiguration. A traceroute, however, showed an unusual number of dropped connections, so it's possible that my connection is the problem, and then maybe Reha's too, although we've both successfully done this is the past.

So...looking to test the poor connection theory. Can I ask forum members to attempt to upload a multi-megabyte file to this thread and report the results here?

Your assistance is mot appreciated.

Thanks,

Jamie

I started with 6.1 and experimented down to some 4.6 MB failing each time. I had uploaded a 6.1 MB audio without problem a few days prior to the transition, however.

Thanks Reha. The file I've been trying is 4.something mb as well. I used to post files here as attachments, but a couple of years ago was having the same problem (so, pre-migration :)) and just broke down and created a Soundcloud account which I've been using ever since.

Let's see if others have a different experience.

Thank you Art. This is excellent news. Since it worked for you the forum can't be the problem (whew). I'm going to let this issue go for now.

Excellent. Thanks Reha.
