Title: Pastoral - Woodwind Quintet
Post by: mjf1947 on January 16, 2020, 08:48:34 AM
Hello all,

I dug up an early work 2006.  This is one of my earliest compositions and really started me off to compose.

I reviewed it, cleaned up the score, edited, changed notes and tweaked here and there.

Hope you enjoy it.

Mark

Mark:

A very interesting piece.  I rather like the atmosphere you have created with this -- as a pastorale, I think it evokes a somewhat far-away place.  At least it seems that way to me.

Also, this is interesting as it's an early work of yours, and I have enjoyed the musical journey you have taken us on these past few years.  All in all, it appears to have been a good start to what has become a very productive amateur (good sense of the word, please) output.  I think you can be proud of your accomplishments as you have grown and developed -- in part with the contributions from the many members of this community.

All the best for a Happy New Year.
Brian

You achieved a nice modal, folksy sound in that early work of yours. Mark.  The music does seem to ramble a bit (at least to my ears on a quick listen).

Mark,

I like the way you used that 4er-16th-16th phrase as melody and counterpoint. It flows nicely.

Cheers,
Jer

There is not much more that I can say that the other have already said other than to add I too enjoyed it.
