I'm glad you liked "Music of the spheres". Fantastic isn't it.
The Ryukoku symphonic band does a fantastic job.

Even though brass band has “limitations” regarding instruments I feel that good composers manage to use the different instruments capabilities to the full. I feel Philip Spark takes his background from brass band and use brass instruments in wind band the same way.

Nice piece. I really liked the middle slower section. In the outer sections I hear a touch of Marche Slav (which is a good thing to me  :)).

On the whole the performance was decent. There were some issues as there always is in live performances (as Michel said that trumpet player for one).

All in all I enjoyed this piece. Good job.

For those interested.

Here are some videos from youtube.
It’s a piece by one of my favourite composers Philip Sparke. It’s called “Music Of The Spheres”.
Written for Brass Band, Fanfare and Wind Band.

I just love this piece. The slow part at the end (after the tubular bells) brings tears to my eyes every time.

I thought these videos of the same piece would show the difference between these band types.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, will take them together into consideration.

It's a lovely melody....may I have your permission to work with it?

Mark
Certainly, glad to hear what might become of it!

About Brass band.

I found this on Youtube. May be a startingpoint for composers who will compose for Brass Band.

Sorry Art, I didn't notice your last post. Sorry.

I'll try to post something for Brass Band. Hope others will do too.
